Newly elected B.C. Premier David Eby has created a Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness tasked with modernizing emergency management legislation.
The new ministry was among the announcements made yesterday during the swearing in of the premier’s new cabinet. North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA Bowinn Ma has been named Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
Eby told reporters the new emergency management ministry is “a recognition of the fact that B.C. seems to have been hit harder than many other places in Canada by climate change,” the Vancouver Sun reports.
