Canada’s tornado warning performance gets passing grade in 2022

The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) at Western University in Ontario has release the 2022 assessment of tornado warning performance in the country.

This is NTP’s second published report card and detailed performance assessment, the first was undertaken last year and covered 2019-2021 (see here).

“We’re happy to report that scores have improved somewhat, going from an overall failing grade over the 2019-2021 period to a passing grade in 2022,” NTP executive director David Sills wrote in the introduction to this year’s report.

Sills noted results from both the 2021 and 2022 reports have not yet been formally published.
