Community Disaster Response Ontario adds 2 new directors

Community Disaster Response Ontario (CDRO) has added two new directors to its staff.

Perron Goodyear has joined CDRO, taking on the role as director of deployment portfolio; including the responsibilities of operations, planning and logistics.

Goodyear brings to CDRO almost 20 years of experience with a national non-governmental organization, the last seven as their territorial director of emergency disaster services. In 2021 he completed his master of arts in disaster and emergency management at Royal Roads University, with previous education completed with The Salvation Army – National Disaster Training Program, Emergency Management Ontario, Canadian Emergency Management College, Public Health Agency of Canada and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.

“The members of CDRO, our partners and stakeholders will benefit greatly from the expertise that Perron brings to CDRO. I have known him for over 15 years, and I am humbled at the opportunity to work with and learn from him,” said Jim Montgomery, president and CEO.

Kyla Burtyn, long-time Member of CDRO, has accepted the role as director of advisory portfolio. Burtyn will be responsible for all aspects of the advisory portfolio to assist you, your team and the organization or community you serve are prepared, able to navigate, and recover your organization or community.

Burtyn is an accomplished project manager and regulatory compliance specialist. She has over 15 years’ experience in program and project management, with a focus on emergency management and occupational health and safety. Kyla holds a B.A. honours in political science from Carleton University, with advanced certificates from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Energy and Natural Resources Infrastructure Protection.

“It is my distinct pleasure to welcome Kyla to the Board of Directors as the director of advisory portfolio, Kyla has been a member of CDRO managing programs for a federal government client, her expertise in project management and program development will serve all clients well,” said Jim Montgomery, president and CEO.

“Working with CDRO has been an amazing experience so far. I am excited to take this journey further and look forward to helping communities and organizations alike develop strategies and programming to support enhanced resilience, and effective and sustainable Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety and Business Continuity Practices,” Burtyn said.
