The federal Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund is putting $3.6 million into a infrastructure project that will raise and solidify the Broughdale Dyke in London, Ont.

The dyke updates will help make the city more flood resilient when the Thames River overflows.

The city is contributing more than $5.4 million for the project. London Mayor Josh Morgan said in an Infrastructure Canada news release the project will help protect homes, parks, bridges and roads from major flooding events.

“This important investment in London’s stormwater infrastructure helps us become more resilient to severe weather and climate change,” Morgan said.
