Canada, U.S. discussing ‘NORAD-like approach’ to disaster management: Blair

Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair says he’s in discussions with U.S. officials, including the head of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency, about closer co-operation on disaster management.

In an interview with CBC’s The House, Blair said, “We’ve been talking about even a NORAD-like approach,” to “borderless” natural hazards, while acknowledging the jurisdiction of and need for consultation and co-operation with provinces and territories.
