N.W.T. government renews territorial state of emergency again

On Monday, N.W.T.’s Municipal and Community Affairs Minister Shane Thompson renewed the territorial state of emergency for the second time.
The state of emergency was first declared on Aug. 15, and renewed on Aug. 29. The renewal this week will extend it to Sept. 18.
Yesterday the government opened pre-registration for evacuees of the South Slave communities of Hay River, Fort Smith, and Kátł’odeeche First Nation.
