Harjit Sajjan replaces Bill Blair as Canada’s minister of emergency preparedness
By Avert staff

Harjit Sajjan, member of parliament for Vancouver South, has been named Canada’s minister of emergency preparedness, replacing Bill Blair who is now heading up the national defence ministry.
Before taking office in 2015, Sajjan served as a detective with the Vancouver Police Department and a lieutenant colonel with the Canadian Armed Forces.
His cabinet roles have included minister of international development and, before that, minister of national defence.
Sajjan will now hold the titles of President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada.

It was good to meet with them & get briefed up on the important work they are doing to keep Canadians safe. pic.twitter.com/dgUsim7d3j
